Backcountry Cabins

Hankin Lookout Cabin: The cabin has 1 double and 3 single bed platforms (capacity is 5).  There is a white gas fueled Coleman stove (bring your own gas).  There is a frying pan, a pot and a coffee pot.  In summer, there is a small stream downhill from the cabin that may provide water depending on recent rainfall. Filtering is always a good idea.  For water in the winter, melt snow.  The cabin is heated by a wood stove. Cost per night is $10 per person to a maximum of $40. Joe L'Orsa Cabin, Silverking Basin, Babine Mountains Provincial Park: The cabin has capacity for 20 persons on a first come basis. There is lots of room to camp nearby. In summer it's an 8.5 km gradual climb from the main parking lot. In winter the route in is 13.5 km. You will pass through avalanche terrain approximately 1.5 km before the cabin. The cabin has a wood stove and a supply of firewood. Note, in very cold weather the cabin will not warm to 'room' temperature. Bring your own cook stove. Dogs, alcohol and smoking are not permitted in the cabin. The fee is; children (6-15) $5 per night and adult (16+) $10 per night. Harold Price Cabin: Cabin capacity is 8. The fee is $10 per person per night to a maximum of $40/night. Payment can be made at McBike (Main Street, Smithers). Alternatively, payment can be made by etransfer to BVBSpayments@gmail.com . Please indicate in the comments payment is for HP Cabin rental.

Note, the access roads (Meed Creek, Meadow Creek, Blunt FSRs) are not plowed every winter. Contact Pat at ladyypat@yahoo.ca

Sibola Range Cabin, Houston Snowmobile Club. You can snowmobile to the cabin and then use it as a base for ski touring.
