Telkwa Caribou Recovery Project

Hello Backpackers

As many of you know, the Backpackers have been involved, for a decade and a half, in efforts to protect the caribou herd in the Telkwa Mountains.

Local biologists, Laura Grant and Jocelyn Campbell, would like to meet with ALL INTERESTED BACKPACKERS on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16, at 7:00 pm in the Nora Building, 3726 Alfred Street, Smithers.

This will be an opportunity for you to learn about the recommendations from the Telkwa Recreational Access Management group (TRAM), the Science Review Panel and the Ministry.  You will be encouraged to pose questions and make suggestions.

I urge you to look at the attached 2-page document, and map, for background information on the TRAM process and recommendations and a detailed description of the three key locations where TRAM agreement was not reached.

If you have any questions, or would like more information, please feel free to contact me at quickdnd@gmail.com or 846.9214.  Also, please let me know if you plan to attend the Feb. 16 meeting, so we can ensure that there is sufficient room (I am hoping that there will be so many Backpackers in attendance that a larger room will be needed!).
